Caños Dive Trip

Caños Dive Boat

“Wanna go to Caños?” is how this whole trip started, first with only 1 person (Alvaro) and us. Over the 7 days leading up to Caños Dive Trip, one more person from the shop would ask to join. Sure why not, the more the merrier right! A trip to Caños must be booked days in advanced and during high season even weeks to guarantee your spot.

Everything was book and organized out of the dive shop Oceans Unlimited in Quepos, Costa Rica. From there we jumped in a private shuttle which we split the cost of between 7 of us, and headed south about an hour to the small town of Uvita. We packed everything into just a day trip, so up early and back in time for dinner.

The crew at Dive & Surf Costa Rica were really easy going and laid back. Much of the life style down in Costa Rica ~ Pura Vida. Everyone on our road trip had our dive gear already assembled before we arrived, the crew were kind enough to rent us 2 tanks for the day and weights. We had just one guide for our group, which was great for us. We looking to do some exploring and see some marine life.

Caños Boat TripThe boat ride from the Dive Shop in Uvita to the Caños Island is about 2 hours, +/- 15 minutes all depends on the ocean and wind. Our Caños Dive Trip included 2 tank dives, and within in the 45 minutes of allowed dive time with accordance to the park rangers. First dive was right at the island, with lots of large pinnacles and sandy bottom and so much marine life to see, even got to see 5 sharks. Our 2nd dive was further away from the island, but still a great site to dive. The average depths on these dives were about 70 feet/21 meters, great air consumption is a must and buoyancy control.

The Caños Dive Trip was an all day adventure for us, the dive crew provided a late lunch which was absolutely delicious and completely vegetarian. On the boat ride back, we found some dolphins jumping our to the water. Had the privilege of watching the beautiful dolphins jumping and swimming right beside our boat.
